In 2013, Libra is involved in a lot of events, either initiating or observing them, sort of from a distance, but rarely personally affected by the consequences of them. It’s an interesting perspective, somewhat like that of a movie director.

There’s a transformation going on in the world, especially in the western societies. It should be quite visible during 2013, but this social change will remain for long.
Society is about to take a step forward, and there’s no turning back.
The Libra aspect to this Pluto and sun 2013 conjunction is a square, which means that this social change is not to Libra’s liking. Most Libras resist it – in vain, though, since this is a social transformation way over their heads.
The resistance may be costly, but it’s also rewarding in the sense that it leads to some constructive solutions and adaptations. It’s adaption through resistance and compromise, which is exactly how Libra will have it.
The square aspect of the Libra Ascendant and Cancer Medium Coeli in the World horoscope shows that in present society, not just 2013, there are contradictions between how we want to be perceived and how we actually regard ourselves. That goes for governments and other leaders, too.
Medium Coeli is in Cancer, the compassionate and caring sign, but the Ascendant in Libra is about rules and justice. That leads to some conflicts. Empathy often needs to ignore rules, even when they’re fair, and justice takes its toll also on those suffering more than they should.
To Libra, the principles of justice and fairness are too important to ignore, whatever the situation. If they’re not upheld, the result can only be increased suffering. So, Libra insists on the principles, the rules. That leads to some heated arguments and aversion – in 2013 as well as every year with the present basis for the World horoscope.
Kite Aspects to Libra
The kite aspect formation of the 2013 World horoscope is mainly about renewal in thought and reason. Maybe it’s not a complete shift of paradigm, but it’s a movement towards adapting ideas to what’s more relevant now and in the future.
Jupiter in Gemini, leading to an abundance of new ideas and new ways to communicate them, is in a trine aspect to the Ascendant in Libra in 2013. That means Libra approves of this development and happily takes part in it. Increased communication promotes thought and contemplation, and any Libra would support that.
The Libra Ascendant of the 2013 World horoscope also has a trine to Mars in Aquarius, which stimulates new lines of thought, boldly getting rid of old concepts that have lost their relevance. It’s sort of a revolt of the mind, following the path of reason wherever it leads. Libra is fine with that, too, trusting that reason will always come to the right conclusions.
The third 2013 Ascendant aspect, though, is an opposition to Uranus in Aries, and to that one Libra is ambiguous, if not completely opposed.
Uranus stays in Aries for several years, doing about the same as Mars in Aquarius: boldly renewing thoughts and perspectives on reality, wherever that leads. But Uranus is the planet of higher and deeper thought, and Libra worries that if this process hurries, profound wisdom of old will get lost. There is need for some caution, since the wisdom of Uranus is something that needs time to be refined. Uranus should not hurry.
So, Libra agrees with the necessity of new thoughts being introduced and old ones rejected, if they have lost their relevance. But to Libra this is a superficial process. The conclusions, the lesson to be learned, will have to take time. What the process leads to should be considered in the future. No jumping to conclusions, which can only lead to prejudice.
Although not part of the kite aspect figure, Venus in Sagittarius is in sextile to Libra, sort of participating in the renewal process mentioned above. In 2013, it’s easier than usual to break up from old habits and move to new surroundings, getting new experiences, even those that are quite distant. Libra is eager to have some such changes, at least to see them. That can only widen the perspective, which promotes insight.
The year 2013 starts with the moon in Leo, giving a boost for individual pursuit – what we do to realize ourselves as persons. It’s an appetite of sorts, particularly strong in the beginning of 2013, but it remains somewhat all through the year. People feel an increased urge to explore their own needs.
Libra feels the same and enjoys it, having no problem in regarding the personal quest as an important and justified one.
Summing it up, 2013 is an eventful year for Libra, especially regarding the exchange of thought and increased communication. The world is heading in an interesting way, although some of the changes coming are not Libra’s cup of tea. Still, it’s a rewarding process of which to be part.
